The reality with warranties is that ultimately your warranty is between you and the manufacturer not you and the installations company. Some installers will claim that they will take care of all warranty claims for you all they are doing are acting as a point of contact, you the end user can call the manufacturer direct and put in a claim.
From experience 99% of issues with solar systems are inverter or rodent related, panels are typically trouble free (in 6 years we have only ever had to do one claim). If you use quality products, chances are you won’t have to worry about this. Just in case warranties for our products are as follows:
Should an issue arise, SMA warranty claims are so simple, all you need to do is call +1 877-697-6283 or email the service team service@SMA-America.com and describe the problem. The SMA service line is open 6.00am to 5.00pm Pacific time. If the inverter is faulty SMA will then send you a replacement and reimburse you for the cost of an electrician to swap it over. It is very simple and painless.
